Introduction
Challenge
AfiyaEAP approached us with the goal of creating an accessible and comfortable digital platform that allows school staff to easily access vital mental health resources. Our challenge was to design a user-friendly web application that supports wellbeing while ensuring seamless, stress-free engagement.
Solution
AfiyaEAP is a web application designed to provide school staff with straightforward, accessible access to a broad range of mental health resources—including blogs, articles, audio content, printable materials, and an intake form—through a secure, single sign-on (SSO) login system. The platform prioritizes ease of use and comfort to encourage ongoing engagement.

Strategy
Accessibility
We focused on creating a comfortable, accessible user experience that minimizes barriers and cognitive load.
- Information architecture: We wanted to avoid confusion and increasing engagement by presenting information and digestible ways
- Service design: We organised the end-to-end experience for diverse stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and reducing their pain points.
- Design system: We streamlined the existing branding of AfiyaEAP, ensuring consistency across their application whilst reducing the cognitive load on users.
Features
- Access to mental health content library: Including blogs, articles, downloadable handouts, services, intake forms and audio content intended to aid staff members in a holistic way
- Staff portals: Customised portals that allow staff to access resources all in one place.
- Seamless integration: Single sign-on was implemented to allow staff to access the application using their existing staff credentials. This eliminated the need for separate account creation and significantly reduced administrative overhead for the school's IT department.
Results
- 600+ Staff members now have access to one-on-one counselling
- 10+ Clinicians have been assigned to cases
